Cultures and civilization in the contemporary world
The RC16 ‘Sociological Theory’ is one of the oldest and largest committees of the International Sociological Association. It provides the most diverse and cosmopolitan forum for all sociologists interested in theoretical debate and conceptual work. Designed to foster critical debate among sociologists of various countries and persuasions, its membership is open to all sociologists actively involved in theoretical research. RC16 activities, beside participating in the organization of the World Congresses, involve the publishing of a newsletter and the organization of a mid-term conference.
The midterm conference is an important event, where sociologists from all over the world may present their work in front of a specialized audience. They are designed to foster a climate of lively discussion beyond and across theoretical schools. As the other activities, participation in the RC16 mid-term conference is reserved to members of RC16.
