Fisica teorica e computazionale
The theoretical and computational physics group includes researchers working in many fields which range from the theory of fundamental interactions, to nuclear and subnuclear physics, to condensed matter physics.
The theory of fundamental interactions covers mainly three topics such as: the relativistic theory of gravitation; gauge theories of elementary particles; the phenomenology of the physics at the colliders.
In nuclear and subnuclear physics electromagnetic interactions with nucleons and nuclei and their structures are studied. Models for partons and quarks distributions in deep inelastic scattering are developed. For nuclei the static and dynamic properties of few-body systems are investigated using new ab initio methods.
In condensed matter physics particular effort is devoted to the study of confined quantum systems (quantum dots, rings, wires, metallic clusters, Bose-Einstein condensates, ultracold atoms, superfluid helium and molecular hydrogen clusters). Several many-body theories are used, from traditional approaches as mean field, Hartree-Fock, Brueckner-HF, Gross-Pitaevskii, to algebraic methods in molecular spectroscopy or computational techniques based on classical and quantum simulations.
