The Coordinator and the Vice Coordinator of the PhD Programme

Coordinator

The Programme Coordinator is elected for a three-year term and may be re-elected for only one consecutive term. 

Louisa Rosemary PARKS has been elected and appointed as the Program Coordinator, effective April 1, 2024.

Louisa Rosemary PARKS is a Full Professor in Political Sociology at the School of International Studies and the Department of Sociology and Social Research, University of Trento, Italy. Her research interests centre around citizens’ activism and its links to global environmental governance, and she has published articles and books on themes including climate and biodiversity activism at the local, regional, and international levels. Her current projects include research on environmental activism and its contributions to transformative governance, climate democracy and activism, and citizen’s trust and participation in the EU. She is an editor of the journal Environmental Politics.

Vice-Coordinator

The Coordinator nominates the Vice-Coordinator from among the members of the Programme Committee.

Emanuele MASSETTI is an Associate Professor of Political Science in the School of International Studies and the Department of Sociology and Social Research at the University of Trento (Italy). His research interests are in comparative and EU politics, focusing on political parties, centre-periphery cleavage, institutional and electoral reforms, and the politics of European (dis-)integration. He has recently published on the effects of Brexit on the UK political system and the politics of secession in EU member-states. He has co-edited the Annual Review of the Journal of Common Market Studies (2018-2023).
