Recognition of foreign academic qualifications

Italian or foreign citizens can ask for the recognition of a qualification achieved abroad, as long as it is similar to one of the qualifications issued by the University of Trento.

The authority in charge of this is the Course board that analyses each curriculum and can declare that the foreign qualification is equivalent to a qualification issued by the University of Trento or can decide to admit the applicant to the equivalent course of the University of Trento, partially recognizing some of the exams taken abroad.

Equivalence is automatic when there are bilateral agreements or international agreements establishing that academic qualifications can be recognized in both countries (for instance Italy-Austria).

Procedures
European and non-European citizens can apply for equivalence at the University. Non-EU citizens who live abroad must forward their request to the Italian Diplomatic representatives of the territory of interest.

For year 2011/2012, all applications must be sent between 25th July 2011 and 29th February 2012.
