Censis 2013: the University of Trento ranks fourth among the Italian medium-sized universities

The quality of the University of Trento was confirmed once more in the 2013/14 edition of the Grande Guida Università, an Italian guide to the best universities, drafted by the Italian newspaper “la Repubblica” and Censis.  The University of Trento obtained an excellent score: 98.1. This score reflects the mean evaluation value of services, structures, web, internationalization and costs for grants, scholarships and other financial support measures.

In the category of middle-sized universities (i.e. with 10 to 20 thousands enrolled students), Trento gained the fourth position, after Siena, Trieste and Sassari. Trento obtained the best score in its category for internationalization (109 out of 110).

In absolute terms the score of the University of Trento is amongst the highest in the overall ranking. The score 98.1 is higher than the one of the leader of the polytechnic universities (Milano: 95.9) and of the “mega” universities i.e. with over 40.000 enrolled students (Bologna: 93.7) and the “large” universities, with 20 to 40 thousands students (Pavia: 94.1) and the “small” universities, i.e. up to 10.000 students (Camerino: 92.6).

The course in Biomolecular Science and Technologies of CIBIO – Centre of Integrative Biology - was not evaluated because the University of Trento has activated only one course - geo-biology - out of the five foreseen for the reference group. According to the rules of the Italian Institute of Statistics a University needs to activate at least 50% of the foreseen courses in order to be evaluated).
