School coordinator: prof. Renato Mazzolini
Vice-coordinator: prof. Gianna Manca
Goals:
The course's main aim is to provide new inputs to scientific research in the field of history, focusing on political communication. Researchers in Historical Studies should be able to identify broad historical issues and plan specific research projects; they should be able to identify and use sources in a competent manner; locate and refer to international bibliography, organize the material found and write a thesis.
The course schedules 3 blocks of lessons for each year, which are linked to the students’ reports regarding the progress achieved in their work . In this way, students learn the basic techniques necessary for acquiring critical skills.
A great deal of time is dedicated to thesis elaboration, in the belief that the historical method is mainly acquired through contact with the primary research sources and their bibliography, and that any problems that arise are gradually solved with the assistance of the tutor and other members of the college.
