Doctoral Programme in International Studies
Useful links
School coordinator: prof. Jens Woelk
Vice coordinator: prof. Stefano Schiavo
Goals:
The main aims of the course include:
- understanding the theoretical approaches that international studies are based on (economic, juridical, political, social and historical sciences);
- the ability in using analytical and research instruments of the disciplines that are the foundation of international studies;
- knowing the instrumentation needed to submit research projects to scientific commissions, to present researches to the public, to send articles and reviews to national and international scientific magazines.
The course thus, offers a multidisciplinary education but at the same time it does not ignore the need to specifically know at least two fields of scientific research. Students will have to prove their knowledge by sitting the examinations that are both written and oral. The course integrates theoretical and practical studies, encouraging students to develop abilities for a critical consideration of the changes in the international system, also through an empirical examination of theoretical aspects.
