Cost of living
The average budget of a student needs to consider various items, which we enlist hereafter. All amounts are simple extimates, expressed in Euro.
University fee per year:
The amount of the University fees changes according to the family's economic condition (the number of its components, income and property possessions) and varies from a minimum of zero (for a yearly income of a 3-members family up to € 30.000) to a maximum of about 1.990 euro/year for undergraduate courses ("laurea triennale") or of 2.790 euro/year for graduate courses ("Laurea Specialistica/magistrale), for a yearly income of a 3-members family above 70.000 euros

ACCOMMODATION
Opera Universitaria
- € 160 in a double-bedroom - € 200 in a single room: only for students who have applied for Opera Universitaria benefits and fulfil the economic and merit requirements established in the Call for applications of the Opera Universitaria;
- € 210 in a double-bedroom - € 250 in a single room: for students within bilateral agreements or special projects and for other students who do not have the requirements foreseen in Opera Universitaria's Call for applications, PhD students, trainees, etc.;
- € 265 in a double-bedroom - € 305 in a single room: for post-doc students.
When receiving the key, a deposit of € 250, in cash, is required. The deposit will be returned when the student leaves the accommodation, within 60 days from the delivery of the keys to Opera Universitaria, after the completion of a positive check on the apartment (furniture, cleaning, etc)-
Private accommodation
Double bedroom in a private house: from € 250/350 per month plus €150 for the bills covering general expenses: water, electricity, heating, etc.;
Mini flat for 1-2 people: from € 500/800 plus € 250for the bills covering the general expenses: water, electricity, heating, etc.;
NOTE: it the private accommodation is managed by a real estate agent, a fee usually corresponding to the monthly amount shall be paid to the agent; rent is paid in advance, during the first days of the month, as established in the contract. Usually a deposit of variable amount is required to cover for possible damages or unpaid rent, usually corresponding to 2-3 months of rent.
FOOD AND MEALS
Meals in a university cafeteria: approximately €200 per month (€ 3.50/4 per meal).
Meal in a medium-priced restaurant/pizzeria: € 15-30
Food shopping: € 250 per month
Drink in a bar: 3,00 small beer, 1,00 a cup of coffee, 1,50 a croissant
GENERAL EXPENSES
Fees to obtain or renew stay permit; € 30.00 for the application, € 14,62 for the stamp duty, 27,50 euro for the release of the electronic stay permit.
