UNITN 1962-2012: the University celebrates its 50th Jubilee
2012 will be the year of the 50th Jubilee of the University of Trento: 50 years of engagement in education and in the development of culture.
Great progress has been made since 1962, when the Higher University Institute for Social Sciences - the first Faculty of Sociology in Italy - was founded thanks to the Provincial President Bruno Kessler.
In 1973 the University of Trento became a free University (Libera Università) and in 1983 a public University.
Though it is a small-medium sized university, the University of Trento has been able to create a rich network of international relations and of cooperation agreements over the years, based on mobility programmes with countries all over the world. The high level of internationalization has led the University of Trento to reach prominent positions in various national rankings.
50 years are only the first step down a road with great prospects. There are many challenges for the future: monitoring and evaluating education and research activities in order to increase the level of competitiveness, internationalization and attraction for students by providing better and better entrance services.
