If you are a non-EU citizen, you do not live in Italy and you do not have a stay permit/permanent residence card in Italy
You must have an entry visa. Upon your arrival in Italy you have to submit a request for a stay permit for study reasons.
Please remember to submit your request for a stay permit within 8 working days from your arrival in Italy at the local “Questura” (Police Headquarter): see the webpage International. Opportunities for students.
The International Mobility Office (welcome service) of your relevant disciplinary area (see the contacts below) will assist you with the submission of your stay permit request (email: welcome [at] unitn.it).
Within 1 month of your arrival in Italy you have to upload to Esse3Web(*) the scanned copy of the first stay permit request, which is provided by the Postal Office when you send the kit for the stay permit request, or by the Immigration Office of the Police Headquarter in Trento only if you have already attended the appointment at the Questura).
Once you have obtained your stay permit a scanned copy of the stay permit (both sides) must be uploaded to Esse3Web within 6 months of your arrival in Italy.
If you are a non-EU citizen, you live in Italy and you have a valid stay permit/permanent residence card in Italy
You must upload to Esse3Web (*) the scanned copy of your valid stay permit/permanent residence card in Italy (or copy of the acknowledgment of receipt provided by the Immigration Office of the Police Headquarter in Trento) no later than November 21, 2022.
Please be informed that you need to submit your request of renewal of your stay permit at least 3 months before the expiry date.

If your stay permit is expired when you are enrolling on the PhD programme, you have to upload to Esse3Web the request of renewal issued by the Immigration Office of Questura in Trento. Once the new stay permit is issued, you must upload it to Esse3Web as soon as you get it and anyway within 6 months of your arrival in Italy.
If you do not respect the above-mentioned deadlines, all university services will be unavailable to you.
