Online Placement tests

Students who wish to enrol on a language course organised by CIAL and who have already started learning the language must take an online placement test.

The purpose of the online placement test is to establish the level which best corresponds to the person's knowledge of the language. For each wrong answer a mark is taken away (-1) whereas for each question not answered no mark is given (0). The test lasts a maximum of 50 minutes (the length of the test varies depending on the language) and can be taken at any time up to the time of enrolment (although it is advisable to take it some time in advance).

Please note that the result of the test is valid for 6 months from the date it is carried out and that the test cannot be repeated for at least two months. 

To access the online placement test, students of the University of Trento will need to use their university login name and password; other people will need to get a password from CIAL to log on. To ask for a password you can write an email to the address given in the “Contacts” box on the right of the screen, giving your name, surname, place and date of birth, residence address for tax purposes (street, number, postal code and city), address in Italy (street, number, postal code and city), taxpayer identification number and a phone number. Passwords will be sent out by CIAL within three working days of receiving the above information.
