B1 - Speaking test
The test may include:
Student pair question and answer.
The students ask and answer questions to exchange personal information. (free time, family etc)
Photograph.
Students are each given a photograph. The students take it in turns to talk about their photograph.
Pair discussion: Decision making.
Students discuss a situation and provide possible solutions to a problem. (This may be choosing a birthday present, choosing an activity to do with a group at the weekend, etc)
Pair discussion: Opinion.
Students talk about a topic of very general interest and give their opinion on the subject, for example, “smoking should be prohibited”; “it’s better to learn English with a teacher rather than on your own”, etc
During the test, the examiner will be assessing the following:
- communicative competence and ability to interact
- use of a wide variety of grammatical forms and vocabulary
- grammatical accuracy
- pronunciation
