The new International Doctoral School of Biomolecular Sciences of the University of Trento has as main objectives:
- the formation of experts on Biology and Biotechnology able to practice their skills in an interdisciplinary way, helping the development in innovative fields which often require multidisciplinary knowledge;
- the study of the cellular phenomena at the molecular level by means of the understanding of the structural and dynamic features of compounds which are at the base of the cell functioning (nucleic acids, proteins, primary and secondary metabolites), from biosynthesis mechanisms to the molecular recognitions, from the host-guest interactions to the selectivity, selection based on the chirality, to the interactions of molecules with the lipidic membranes and more in general of all intra- and intermolecular processes in which the understanding of molecular features is relevant;
- the institution of a course for the formation of professional researches able to work in the academic research as well as in public and private organizations through the training of experts on biomolecular technologies.
Students have to undergo a public selection to be admitted to the university. The doctorate school in Biomolecular Sciences is a 3 year course that includes:
- research and study activities;
- attendance to courses and seminar cycles which are also held by foreign teachers in English;
- research and study period abroad (at least three months).
The acquired knowledge can be used in the fields of basic and applied research.
