CIMeC Doctoral School Commencement
On 7 December 2012 the Doctoral School of Cognitive and Brain Sciences celebrated the graduation of its 2011-2012 graduates.
The event was marked by a keynote address by Christiane D. Fellbaum, Senior Research Scholar at Princeton University, Co-Founder and Co-President of the Global WordNet Association, who delivered a talk titled Can computers learn the meanings of words?
Prof. Antonio Schizzerotto, the Vice-Rector for Scientific Research of the University of Trento, and Prof. Giorgio Vallortigara, Director of the Center for Mind/Brain Sciences conveyed their opening remarks. Prof. David Melcher, Head of the Doctoral School in Cognitive and Brain Sciences, shared some insights on the outcomes of the graduates' research and later awarded the diplomas.
The 2011/12 doctoral candidates are:
Guido Barchiesi, Fabio Celli, Michela Ferron, Tommaso Fornaciari, Vittorio Iacovella, Gianluca Lebani, Francesca Perini, Silvia Pagano, and Nicola Soldati. For details on their thesis titles please refer to the Alumni 2012 page.
Elsa Fouragnan, Sandra Petris, Elisa Rigosi and Roberta Sellaro are expected to defend their thesis in April 2013.
Kyriaki Kalimeri, Gabriele Sam Chierchia, and Benedetta Heimler, the remaining students of the XXV cycle, are currently undertaking their 4th year of PhD studies.
