Manifesto of Studies
According to art. 9 of the "Implementing regulations of the Doctoral School in Mathematics", the following document contains the list of courses for year 2012/2013, along with the rules that must be respected. As goes for rules not included here, we refer to the "Implementing regulations of the Doctoral School in Mathematics".
According to art. 8 of the "Implementing regulations of the Doctoral School in Mathematics" we recall that:
- A first year student has to attend three courses, to be chosen, for curricula a), b) and d), among the ones held by the Doctoral School of the University of Trento, in general in the period February 1st – April 30, for curriculum c) either among the ones held by the Doctoral School of the University of Trento or else among the ones held by the Faculties of the University of Trento or elsewhere (Summer Schools, European Schools, Workshops). The final examination for the Doctoral student in one of these three courses has to include a written test proposed and read by the lecturer responsible for the course, and an oral discussion. The final examination for the second and third courses is an oral exam. In alternative, for the third course the final examination can be a talk given by the Doctoral student on a topic proposed by the lecturer responsible for the course. In general, the exams have to be finished before June 30 of the first year.
- Students attending years following the first one will concentrate on their study and research activities for their Doctoral thesis.
- In order to be admitted to the third year, a second year student must give the Head of the School a paper related to his/her scientific activity.
- The School's Committee may ask students to attend distinguished courses, adding them to their study programme.
According to points a) and d), for year 2012/2013 a first year student must choose among the following alternatives:
- General Curriculum (Pure mathematics): choose, as courses for the above point a) at least three, among courses 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6
- Curriculum MAMOSC (Mathematical Modeling and Scientific Computing): choose, as courses for the above point a) at least three, among courses 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6
- Curriculum Mathematics Education and Communication: choose, among courses for the above point a) , three courses among courses 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 or else among the ones held by the Faculties of the University of Trento or elsewhere Summer Schools, European Schools, Workshops
- Curriculum Algebraic Coding Theory and Cryptography: algebraic and geometric methods”: choose, as courses for the above point a) at least three, among courses 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.
