Entry requirements

In order to apply for a position in the International School of Doctoral Studies in Materials Science & Engineering one should possess a five year study University degree such as laurea SPECIALISTICA (magistrale) or EQUIVALENT DEGREE qualification obtained abroad in the fields of Materials Engineering or Industrial Engineering or in other technical-scientific fields.
Applicants who have a foreign qualification that has not been officially recognised as equivalent to an Italian degree must submit a request for equivalence in their application. In this case, it is necessary to attach the following documents:

  • degree certificate (EU citizens might present a self-declaration of the possession of a degree
  • translation in English of the degree certificate with exams and grades obtained and signed by the applicant to enable the Doctoral School Committee to consider its equivalence, for the sole purpose of being admitted to the selection

After the admission to the School, successful non-EU applicants who have a foreign qualification must provide the degree certificate with obtained exams and grades, translated and certified by the Italian Embassy or Consulate in the country of the university that issued the degree, and the respective declaration of validity (“Dichiarazione di Valore”).

Selection

Documents, papers and credentials provided by each candidate are submitted to the selection committee which pre-selects the applications.
A shortlist of the successful applications is published soon after the call deadline.

The selection is based on:

  • Screening of titles and qualifications;
  • Candidate’s assessment and interview (by skype).

During the oral examination the commission will also proof  candidate's knowledge of English.

Applicants can choose in which language they intend to take the exams between Italian and English.
