Non-Eu citizens

Before you leave from your country make sure that:

  • your passport is valid throughout your whole stay in Trento;
  • if you are staying in Trento more than 90 days, you have a Visa type D 
  • if you are staying up to 90 days you have a Visa type C;
  • you have a health insurance coverage valid also for Italy for the whole period of your stay or at least for the first month;
  • you have cash availability in order to face the first expenses during your trip and in Trento (taxi, meals, transports, stay permit, deposit and the first month’s rent for the housing, health insurance, etc.). Please also check the Cost of living in Trento;
  • you have already informed the Welcome Office about your arrival and you have received confirmation of the appointment date and time with the Staff; 
  • you have received a confirmation of housing reservation in Opera Universitaria structures;
  • if you are a degree-seeking student, your study documentation is complete (original or authenticated copy of the Secondary school diploma or University degree, officially translated into Italian, legalized by the competent Authority, declaration of value).

At the first appointment with Welcome Office, bring with you the following:

  • passport (original);
  • the invitation letter stamped by the Embassy;
  • 5 passport-sized pictures (one is needed for the bus card and 4 for the Immigration Office);
  • cash amounting up to € 1250.00:
  • € 150.00  for the stay permit application;
  • € 200.00  for the health insurance (if you do not purchase a private one);
  • € 300.00  for the deposit for the housing; 
  • up to € 290.00  for the first month's rent;
  • up to € 270.00  for the first month’s meals at the University restaurants;
  • up to € 30.00 for the bus transport;
  • if you have previously been to Italy, old stay permit, the codice fiscale (tax code) issued by Agenzia delle Entrate;
  • if you have been to the University of Trento before, the Opera Universitaria student card.

A specific “Welcome Day” is organized for the groups of new-comers in order to:
  • present the University facilities and the welcome activities reserved to international students;
  • distribute some academic and touristic material;
  • give information about the Italian immigration laws;
  • deliver or give assistance (in group, or individually if needed) for the application of the tax code, the Library card, the Student Card (cafeteria swipe card for the canteen restaurants) and bus pass.
