All doctoral students are required to pay € 130 for the local education tax.
The number of granted scholarships may not be inferior to 50% of the places made available in the call for application. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of a comparative evaluation of the applicants. Applicants will be inserted in the list based on merit; all other conditions being equal, the economic situation of the candidate will be considered in accordance with the Decree of the President of the Italian Republic, 9th April 2001.
After the Italian Ministry’s DM of the 18th of June 2008, the annual gross amount of the doctoral grant has increased to 13.638,47 € including the social security contributions.
Scholarships cannot be combined with other grants, except those awarded by national or foreign scientific institutes for periods spent abroad which are considered useful for the student’s research activities. Doctoral students who have already been awarded a grant in the past (even for one year only) for a doctoral course in Italy are not entitled to receive a doctoral scholarship again.
