Long term stay (over 90 days) - EU citizens

Since the enforcement of decree nr. 30, dated February 6th 2007 regarding the "Application of the Directive 2004/38/CE about the right of EU citizens and their relatives to circulate freely and stay in member states" (read below), starting from April 11th 2007, you are allowed to move without restrictions throughout Italy without applying for the stay permit.

During your first 3 months of stay you have no requirements to fulfill, provided you have a valid identity document.

If you stay in Italy for more than 90 days and you are here for study reasons, you have to register to the "temporary population" at Comune where you live (Ufficio Anagrafe) with the following documents:

  • certificate of enrolment to the University of Trento;
  • passport or identity card;
  • TEAM Card (= European Health Insurance Card) or a private health insurance;
  • proof of adequate economic means during your stay in Trento. 

You will receive a declaration of "temporary enrolment to the Municipality".
