International guests willing to stay in Trento for work purposes may refer to the Welcome Office of the University of Trento for issues connected to the border crossing, arrival and stay in Trento.
The Welcome Office deals with issues related with the arrival of foreign workers coming from EU and non-EU countries. In particular, the Office deals with the professionals who signed a contract with the University of Trento. The professional figures who may apply to work at the University of Trento are:
- Professors/researchers on a contract with the University:
- Visiting professors ranking in the list which is approved every year by the University Scientific Research Committee;
- Visiting professors invited to the University of Trento on the basis of decisions taken by the Faculty Boards;
- Researchers on a fixed-term contract.
The Welcome Office deals with:

the management of pre-arrival procedures:
coordination of the relevant offices (faculties, departments and operational units) to collect the documents needed to set off the arrival procedure; send the work permit and relevant communications to hand it to the Italian embassies to apply for a visa for working purpose; provide information to international guests travelling to Trento with their families; support the in the procedure to obtain the visa and in the relations with the embassies; support to book accommodation in one of the facilities of the University. -
the management of the welcoming procedures:
support regarding the administrative procedures; preparation of forms to apply for stay permit; delivery of the Luchtronic card to access the services providing meals; provide information about health assistance, stay in Italy and stay of the family members. As far as professors and researchers with a fixed-term contract with the University of Trento, the Welcome Office deals with the management of the administrative procedures related to the arrival in Italy of non-EU citizens and the issuing of the Lunchtronic card, the parking card and the password to access IT services. -
the management of the procedure during the stay in Italy:
application for extension/modification of the work permit in the relevant local offices; renewal of the stay permit for work purposes, conversion of the study permit into work permit.
