Lifelong Learning Programme (LLP) - Erasmus
The European Commission’s Lifelong Learning Erasmus Programme allows students enrolled in the University of Trento to obtain funding for placement abroad in a university or enterprise, including training and research centres, in one of the 27 participating EU countries and in Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland, Turkey and Croatia.
The Erasmus placement enables students to acquire specific skills and a better understanding of the social and economic culture of the host country through the support of preparatory or refresher language courses for the receiving country or work environment with the aim to promote the mobility of young workers throughout Europe. By carrying out work experience related to their academic studies, students gain the benefit of acquiring relevant professional skills. Training within the Erasmus placement programme not only involves the acquiring of information on the part of the student but also the exchange of skills from the students to the host organisation.
The placement must be carried out within the Erasmus academic year which begins on June 1st and runs until September 30th of the following year. The minimum placement mobility period is 3 months and varies according to the grants offered by the single higher education institution. The maximum is 12 months. The placement requires full-time commitment and a minimum of 36 working hours per week.
UNITN guarantees full academic recognition of the activity carried out abroad in the form of ECTS credits or activity recorded in the Diploma Supplement as part of the curricula and planned activities abroad.
At the end of the placement participants will obtain the Europass Mobility, a European certificate which records the professional and transversal skills acquired.
There are two Calls for Erasmus Placement abroad and be eligible for the student mobility grants:

NEW! Now the Call for Erasmus Consortia Placement P-DESK3 is open. This project is organised by a Consortium involving the University of Trento, the University of Sassari, University Cà Foscari of Venice and the consortium Coordinator, the IUAV University of Venice. The Call for the academic year 2012-2013 has been published on the 17.09.2012 with a deadline date on 12.10.2012. Results of selected placement students should be made available by mid-November 2012. The mobility period could then start at the beginning of December for the interested students who have the possibility to do so at that time.
The University of Trento will allocate 16 grants for each placement of 3 months (48 months in total) for students (non-doctorate) who have identified a host higher education institution or enterprise and have endorsed a training project with them. Selection is based on the candidature and does not involve an interview. As such all the required documentation must be submitted with the proposed candidature. An Application Form will be made available via the online Esse3 system. Further information exchange will take place via email.
The Call is composed by the following documents (all of them are only in Italian - if you need a support in English you can contact the LLP-Erasmus Office):
- the Call;
- Attachment A - participation form;
- Attachment B - CV;
- Attachment D - letter of intent form.
Attention: the application form in Esse3 will be available only for students regularly registered to the University of Trento (this means that they have to have paid the fees) and for students eligible in the Call.

Call for Erasmus Placement will be published in December of the ongoing academic year with the mobility to start in March. The coordinating body is the University of Trento.
The placement grants for these Calls are to be used exclusively for unpaid training/work experience with a partner nominated in the Call or identified by the interested candidate as would be the required case for Erasmus Consortia Placement. The amount of the grant in the Call is calculated annually and depends on the country where the placement will be undertaken. Grants awarded are usually of 500 Euro per month and cannot be accumulated with financial contributions provided by the Opera Universitaria (University Benefits Office) for similar activities abroad. The duration of the placement period is defined in collaboration with the partners and is indicated in the Call.
For all the necessary information on the selection process see the current Calls, consult the LLP Directive for the University, and Erasmus Placement Regulations for the faculty, department or discipline you are studying in and then download the Erasmus Placement mobility forms.
For linguistic preparation required for the host country placement please consult the courses organised in the Interfaculty Centre for Language Learning (CIAL).
Contacts and LLP University Directives can be found in the Download box (only in Italian version for outgoing Erasmus mobility).
