Fulbright Universitas Program

Fulbright Universitas Program is the tool of the Fulbright Commission to grant scholarships for study and other activities, to foster the academic exchanges between Italian universities and the US. Grants are allocated to Italian researchers and teaching staff, to finance 6-9 month research periods at US universities or teaching periods at universities with Fulbright subjects in Italian studies (Georgetown University, Northwestern University, University of Chicago, University of Notre Dame e University of Pittsburgh).

How to host Fulbright teaching staff and researchers

The Fulbright Universitas Program offers to Italian universities two internationalisation programmes of the University, which allow US Fulbright teaching staff and researchers, benefiting from their research and educational activities. Both programmes are almost entirely financed by the Fulbright program. Only a small contribution is paid by the University.

The Fulbright Specialist Program enable universities to invite a US teaching staff unit to lecture for a 2-6 week period, through lessons, seminars, educational consultancy and the Fulbright Intercountry Program, which promotes mobility of US Fulbright beneficiaries already working in Italy and Europe, to participate in lectures and conferences organized by Italian universities. This programme covers for travel expenses from the hosting university to the university where he/she is asked to participate in the lecture/seminar/conference). Further the Italian universities use own financial resources to establish Fulbright Research/Lectureships programme autonomously, to open research and teaching posts for US Fulbright beneficiaries. The Commission is in charge of the promotion and recruitment procedures in the US, pays for health insurance and sponsors the in-coming VISA.
