LLP-Erasmus Placement
The European Commission’s Lifelong Learning Erasmus Programme allows doctorate students enrolled in the University of Trento to obtain funding for placement abroad in a university or enterprise, including training and research centres, in one of the 27 participating EU countries and in Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland, Turkey and Croatia.
The Erasmus placement enables doctorate students to acquire specific skills and a better understanding of the social and economic culture of the host country through the support of preparatory or refresher language courses for the receiving country or work environment with the aim to promote the mobility of young workers throughout Europe. By carrying out work experience related to their academic studies, doctorate students gain the benefit of acquiring relevant professional skills. Research within the Erasmus Placement Programme involves not only acquiring knowledge on the part of a doctorate candidate but also a skills exchange with the host institution. This entails concrete interaction between the student and the organisation whose duty it is to record and report on the research undertaken.
The placement must be carried out within the Erasmus academic year which begins on June 1st and runs until September 30th of the following year. The minimum placement mobility period is 3 months and varies according to the grants offered by the single institution. The maximum is 12 months. The placement requires full-time commitment and a minimum of 36 working hours per week.
UNITN guarantees full academic recognition of the activity carried out abroad in the form of ECTS credits or activity recorded in the Diploma Supplement as part of the curricula and planned activities abroad.
At the end of the placement participants will obtain the Europass Mobility, a European certificate which records the professional and transversal skills acquired.
Call for Erasmus Placement will be published in December of the ongoing academic year with the mobility to start in March. The placement grants for this Call are to be used exclusively for unpaid training/work experience with a partner nominated in the Call or identified by the interested candidate. The amount of the grant in the Call is calculated annually and depends on the country where the placement will be undertaken. Grants awarded are usually of 500 Euro per month and cannot be accumulated with financial contributions provided by the Opera Universitaria (University Benefits Office) for similar activities abroad. The duration of the placement period is defined in collaboration with the partners and is indicated in the Call.
For linguistic preparation required for the host country placement please consult the courses organised in the Interfaculty Centre for Language Learning (CIAL).
For all the necessary information on the selection process see the current Calls, consult the LLP Directive for the University, and Erasmus Placement Regulations for the faculty, department or discipline you are studying in and then download the Erasmus Placement mobility forms.
