Biomolecular Science & Technologies - Bachelor degree

Learning outcomes
The course aims at providing to graduates the necessary instruments to accomplish an “integrated cognitive approach” to the biological systems. With this terminology we mean an approach that takes under consideration the molecular components, of the biological/physiological parameters and their interactions in the complex systems.
To reach this goal, the course includes the following learning activities:

  • to gain detailed knowledge of the structural components of the cell, of their role in the maintenance of cellular integrity, in the cellular communication and the metabolism regulation;
  • to know and to comprehend the technologies used for genetic manipulation;
  • to acquire suitable competences of chemistry and physics, in particular to integrate the scientific foundations of the methodologies of analysis that characterize the biomolecular technologies;
  • to acquire adequate mathematics and computer science competences, in particular those oriented to data analysis;
  • to be able to use all information resulting from the modern biotechnological platforms and to be able to apply them in realistic situations in order to analyze and to understand the biological phenomena;
  • to gain detailed knowledge of the genetic basic mechanisms of the cell and its regulation;
  • to gain adequate knowledge about the legal and deontological regulations and bioethics problems.
