Databases, journals and e-books
Who can use the electronic resources of the library?
Electronic resources are accessible to internal members (students, professors, researchers, staff, visiting professors) and to external members as well. Internal members can access even from off-campus; external members can access electronic resources only from PC in the library rooms.
How do I access electronic resources of the library?
From pc in the University buildings there's no need of authentication; from home I must use my personal account. To access some databases and electronic journals a client ica must be installled on your PC. From home you must access trought VPN.
Can I access electronic resources from off/campus?
From off campus access to electronic resources in possible only for internal members. To access some databases e-journals and e-books a client ICA must be downloaded on your PC. From off-campus you must access trought VPN.
Who can I address for authentication problems?
Students who have forgotten their password must addrress to the student secretary's office of their faculty, showing their identity card.
How can I save data?
Each database has its own way of saving data, which is usually shown in the online help.
How can I print data?
We advise you first to save data on your computer and then print. If not possible, use the print functions of the database, after checking that the system can address data to your printer.
How can I save data from databases which require an ICA Client?
If you want to save data from an ICA application, click the function Save as, and then select My Computer (My Documents or Desktop are associated to the remote server). In My Computer the letter of my local disk is preceeded by the $ symbol ($C, $D ecc.).
Why the database doesn't open even if I am connected?
Pop-up windows are used in a large number of databases and e-journals. If you find yourself clicking a link but nothing happens, pop-up blockers must be disabled.
Unitn-eprints
What is UNITN-eprints?
Unitn-eprints is an online archive of scientific and technical publications by the departments and research centres of the University of Trento.
Who can store up in UNITN-eprints?
Unitn-eprints archives scientific works by authors affiliated with University of Trento, that is:
- Professors and researches affiliated with a Department or a research centre of the University of Trento;
- Phd students, contract workers or visiting professors who research in the University of Trento.
What are the advantages offered by the deposit in the archives?
The simple and quick process of self-archiving permits any user to research, access and download the full text of peer reviewed academic research products. The official character of institutional archives gives authority to the research products and assures cumulative and perpetual storage of scientific production.
Is the scientific production storing up subject to legal restrictions?
By self-archiving an item, authors retain all moral and economic rights on their own work (provided the copyright still stays with the author), according to current legislation on copyright, on patents and on intellectual property.
Self-archiving is made easier thanks to RoMEO Project, whose database includes most international publishers and their different polices on copyright and self-archiving by highlighting them with different colours.
Is there any rule for the deposit safeguards?
Authors can choose to limit the use of their works, i.e by restricting access to a limited number of users or using cerative commons licenses.
Do I have to enter my name in order to enter the archives?
External user may access and download files in the archive without registering, while users who want to archive new data may access the system after a quick free registration procedure.
