Submission

Submission deadline extended to 15 January

This year the (new) format is that of a workshop dedicated to a specific theme, the theme of:

- interventions promoting successfully organisational change in the Information Systems Design domain

- design oriented  approaches to the introduction of innovative social practices, to 'make place' for IT.

This theme is object of recent work at Trento (see ALPIS 2008 'SPD papers’ web page: link to SPD papers page), presented at MCIS07, on which we intend to open a discussion in the community, and at ALPIS08 in particular.

We  plan for 4 sessions dedicated to various sides contributing conceptually to the theme:

- extending participatory design (PD) to the IT implementation phase, by exploiting:

 - Claudio Ciborra's phenomenology based concepts as guiding principles for action, and

- Carl Rogers' person centred counselling approach and co-construction of visions of solution, with people concerned, besides

- ethnography based concept development on organisational problems and assets, in an 'appreciative inquiry'

Would you consider contributing to one of the four sessions?

We only require from you a position paper of about five pages by Christmas. Acceptance will be communicated early in the new year (on January 2nd).

Again, the work in the seminar will be very focussed:

all presentations are expected to illustrate, among own points of attention, presenters' position with respect to Trento's work on Social Practice Design (SPD),

as described in the 4 MCIS papers (one 2006, three 2007), download-able from the ALPIS2008 website SPD papers page.

Presentations and position papers, will analyse these papers

and comment them in the light of the theme proposed for each day,

while expanding freely otherwise.

Position papers will be collected in the ALPIS 2008 working binder volume (no ISBN).

Please submit your position paper by 15/01/2008 via email to: alpis2008@gmail.com

Please download our Word document template to facilitate preparing your submissions in a pertinent layout.
