40th Incontro di Grammatica Generativa (Generative Grammar Meeting)

LIVE STREAM

The 40th Incontro di Grammatica Generativa (Generative Grammar Meeting), Italy's main regular venue for discussions on every aspect of generative grammar and formal linguistics, will be held on February 13-15, 2014 at the Università di Trento.

Invited Speakers

  • Martin Krämer - University of Tromsø
  • Cecilia Poletto - University of Frankfurt
  • Antonella Sorace - University of Edinburgh

Location
Department of Humanities, via Tommaso Gar 14, Trento, Italy.

Topics
Abstracts are welcome on any topic in generative grammar, but submissions on the following areas are particularly welcome:

  • Multilingualism in a broader perspective: developmental issues, acquisition of L2, bilingualism in language variation and change, contact phenomena, theoretical approaches to lesser studied languages and dialects.
  • Theoretical, computational and cognitively plausible models of the interface between the lexicon, syntax and semantics.

The conference will host oral presentations and one poster session. The talks will be 30 minutes + 10 minutes for discussion.
The official languages of the conference will be English and Italian.

Additional events
The conference will be preceded by the workshop "Specificity in the Grammar: Form and Interpretation" (February 12th, http://clic.cimec.unitn.it/specificity), with an independent submission process.

Awards
As in previous editions of the IGG, the "Fondazione Marica De Vincenzi" (http://www.fondazionedevincenzi.org/) will offer an award for the best paper by an Italian researcher without a tenure-track position (e.g. a doctoral or post-doctoral studentship, or a non-permanent research contract such as Italian assegno di ricerca or ricercatore a tempo determinato di tipo A).

Candidates for the award must be of Italian nationality but can reside anywhere, and first authors of a paper accepted at IGG40. All interested parties (that have been selected for presentation at IGG40) must contact the IGG organizers by February 1rst, 2014, signaling their intention to be selected for the award and providing an additional text describing their research (maximum 2 pages, same format as the IGG abstract). The selected candidate will be announced at the IGG40.

The amount of the award is € 500.
