The School

Typically, the school is addressing specific topics of high importance within the international scientific community of Optoelectronics and Photonics. It aims to bring together a large number of PhD students and young researchers from all parts of the world who across a one-week intense schedule follow a series of lectures on selected topics. The lectures are held by internationally recognized experts in the field. At the same time, the students are encouraged to enjoy the beautiful location where the school is organized. To this end a large lunch break is considered to allow skiing and relaxing on the mountains or at the hotel facilities.

This edition

This time, the Organizing Committee of the School has chosen the topic of Integrated Quantum Photonics following the research activities of the organizing institutes and paving the way to the next EC Flagship on Quantum Technologies.
The IFN-CNR and the University of Trento will organize the 9th edition of the Optoelectronics and Photonics Winter school. The school will be held from 26th March to 1st of April, 2017 in Folgaria (TN), Italy.

School Description

The school will begin with basic lectures introducing the students to the fundamental concepts, followed by more specific lectures with illustrative examples. A laboratory on designing quantum photonic circuits is going to be organized. Students are encouraged to bring their own laptop to perform their own design.

All lectures will be given by world-class researchers in each field and special attention will be paid to pedagogical aspects.
