Neural Stem Cells 2015

We regret to inform that the upcoming Winter School on Neural Stem Cells in Development and Disease (Monte Bondone, December 13-17, 2015) will not be held.
The low number of registered participants and limited budget forced us to cancel the event.
We apologise for the inconvenience and hope to be able to organize a new edition of the School in the near future.

The Winter School on “Neural Stem Cells in Development and Disease” will highlight the role of neural stem cells in CNS development and physiology, as well as their therapeutic potential for modeling and treating neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative disorders.

The school will be divided in three main sessions: In vivo and in vitro neural stem cell lineage; Mechanisms controlling adult neurogenesis; Molecular basis of neurodegenerative and neurodevelopmental disorders. Also, two poster sessions and one oral session with communications to be selected form the students will be scheduled.

The school is intended for PhD students and young postdocs, for a maximum of 40 participants selected on the basis of their CV, publications and presented abstract.

This is the second edition of the school and the main aim is to create and offer a friendly and stimulating environment where many young researchers, mainly PhD students and post-docs, will overview lectures by internationally recognized neuroscientists and present and discuss their work and ideas among them and with the speakers.

The first School, held in 2012, saw the participation of some of the most renowned experts in the field and attracted many international students. This contributed to create a lively atmosphere, leading to many stimulating scientific discussions. For the second edition, we aim to recreate and strengthen the positive scientific environment we established.

Plenary talks (about 90 min each) will be focused on broad topics; extensive discussions, poster sessions and meetings will promote the interaction of PhD students and PostDocs with leading experts in the field. The program of the school will be arranged in order to leave the central part of the day free for outdoor activities.  A half-day social event will be organized.

At the end of the school, two prizes will be assigned, one for the best poster and one for the best oral presentation.
