Storep association has organized also a guided tour of Buonconsiglio Castle, which is the largest and most important monumental complex of the Trentino Alto Adige region, just in the heart of the city of Trento (10 minutes walk).
The Buonconsiglio Castle was the residence of the prince-bishops of Trento from the 13th century to the end of the 18th century, and is composed of a series of buildings of different eras, enclosed by walls and positioned slightly higher than the city. At the extreme south of the complex is the Torre Aquila, within which is conserved the famous Cycle of the Months, one of the most fascinating secular pictorial cycles of the late Middle Ages.
Please note that the tour is scheduled for June 1 at 5.30 pm (with meeting point at the Faculty of Sociology at 5.10 p.m) and it is completely offered by STOREP (Italian Association for the history of political economy).

ARTESTOREP – Arts Exhibitions (Faculty of Sociology, May 25th - June 1st, 2010)

The organizers of the 7th annual conference of the Italian association for the history of political economy STOREP decided to offer participants a sample of the local artistic scene. Apart from a couple of activities that you will get to know in due time, we have organized two small exhibitions in the building of the Faculty of Sociology. One has been organized by Alda Failoni, who designed the conference logo; it shows a selection from the work of four established local artists who all belong to the same generation.
In addition, and in the spirit of the importance that we attach to the participation of young economists we have invited, through their school, some art students to create and exhibit a series of works made especially for our conference.

Four professionals from Trento
Gelsomina Bassetti (Trento 1953) is a graduate of the senior art high school Alessandro Vittoria in Trento. She studied under Arwed Gorella and Hermann Albert at the Liberal Arts University of Braunschweig, from which she graduated in 1987. In 1991 she returned to Italy, living and working first in Milan and then in Arco and Pietramurata.

Alda Failoni (Trento 1954) has studied painting and etching with Remo Wolf. She has been a student of the Libera Scuola del Nudo of the Accademia di Belle Arti in Bologna e of the International School for Graphics in Venice. In 1979 she took her degree in philosophy at the University of Bologna. From 1985 she is a member of the international Association of Graphics in Venice. Alda lives and works in Trento.

Gianni Pellegrini (1953) lives and works in Riva del Garda. His encounter with the painter Aldo Schmid in the early 1970s marks an important passage in his formation as an artist , as do his studies at the DAMS in Bologna. He has been part of the group “ Astrazione Oggettiva”, which was created in Trento in 1976. His pictorial production has evolved through the cycles “Linee“ (1976),“Graffiture“ (1980s),“Oltre il segno“ and “Adombrato“ (1990s) “Cadute“ and “Istanti“ (2000s) and Inflessioni” of 2009.

Luigi Penasa (1952) cannot remember not having painted. He has been searching, by himself, his own personal style of expression. His latest “isolated portraits” of 2010 are coloured warning lights that signal solitude, immobility, and perhaps the expectation of unlikely safe havens. Among these objects there is no Dorian Gray; there are only dark reflections of our precariousness.

Portraits of economists
Specially for the 7th annual Storep conference, nine students who are about to graduate from the senior art high school Alessandro Vittoria in Trento have prepared, under the guidance of their teacher Rolando de Filippis, portraits of famous economists. The students were free to choose an economist who aroused their interest and the research that guided their choice was done entirely on their own initiative. We are proud to present them and their work, which shows in a very interesting way how non-economists look upon our discipline and its history.

The students/artists are: Mariangela Dalfovo, Annalisa Devigili, Cecilia Negri, Luca Porcelluzzi, Valentina Salizzoni, Pietro Toniolli, Valentina Micheloni, Benedetta Vialli, Paola Zadra.

Public and private
Laura Adami, Alice Chisté, Chiara Loss, Giulia Marighetti, Stefania Peterlini, Linda Rizzoli, Carolina Roat, Laura Ruperti, Raj Samir, Alice Secchi and Greta Valentinotti are third-grade students of the senior art high school Alessandro Vittoria in Trento. Coached by their teacher Giuliano Orsingher, they have realized three “plurimi” or “multiples”, which act as the physical supports of a confrontation between the informal painting style of Emilio Vedova and René Magritte’s surrealism. The combination of these two incompatible styles of artistic expression symbolizes the variety of the levels on which private and public opinion may meet.
