Research topics

Current researches deal with processing and characterization of composite materials, nanocomposites, biomaterials, and materials and technologies for nanomedicine and  tissue engineering applications. These activities are partly performed in the laboratories of the Department and partly at the BIOtech, Biomedical Technologies Research Center. The available instrumentation comprises machines for polymers and composite processing and characterization (molding, injection, extrusion, filament winding, mechanical-dynamical-rheological testings, Scanning Electron Microscopy, Atomic Force Microscopy, ...) as well as specific instrumentation for materials biomedical applications (confocal microscope, protein analysis, surface modification, microfabrication, ...)

Prof. Migliaresi has supervised a large number of master and PhD students.

Presently he leads a group of about 25 master and PhD students, and Post-docs.

List of current research topics

  • Polymeric materials processing, characterization and applications
  • Composite materials processing, characterization and applications
  • Dynamical and viscoelastic properties of materials
  • Biomaterials
  • Hydrogels
  • Degradable polymers and composites
  • Materials for regenerative medicine and tissue engineering
