CUDAM - University Centre for Advanced Studies on Hydrogeological Risk in Mountain Areas - was acknowledged in 2001 as centre of excellence by the Italian Ministry for Education, University and Research and since 2004 the Centre has been recognized as Expertise by the Protezione Civile Nazionale.

The Centre is involved in the study of hydrologic, hydraulic, geological and environmental phenomena related to the mountain area.

Moreover CUDAM has international experiences in studies regarding the formation of liquid and solid supply in mountain basins, the hydrogeological slopes safety, the dynamics of mud and debris flows, the safety of cone, the piedmont river strips and the hydrodynamic of lakes.

Other disciplines that the Centre develops are: hydraulics, hydrology, low atmospheric physics, geology, forestry, topography, remote sensing and renewable energy resources.
