Vanessa UGOLINI

Vanessa Ugolini is a PhD student at the School of International Studies, University of Trento, Italy. Her research focuses on investigating the impact of extraterritorial data collection on national oversight mechanisms in the preventive investigation of criminal activities. She received the Barrie Paskins Award for Best MA Dissertation from the War Studies Department, King’s College London, where she completed with Distinction an MA in Intelligence and International Security. She also holds a BA in Politics and East European Studies from University College London. Her research expertise builds on the study of practices of suspicion, technologies of surveillance and digital surveillance techniques. She is a native Italian speaker, with a proficiency in English and an intermediate knowledge of Russian.
