Sofia Ahmed completed her PhD dissertation in International Studies while majoring in Economics. Dr Ahmed currently serves as a Research Economist at the Pakistan Institute of Development Economics in Islamabad.
She has also been associated with teaching Economics and Sociology at the graduate and undergraduate level in Islamabad and in Trento. Her main research interests include micro-econometric and spatial econometric modelling of socio-economic inequalities, economic geography, labour economics, and international political economy.
She is currently working on the modelling of socio-economic inequalities in developing countries using spatial econometric techniques for which she has received training at the University of Essex in the UK and at the Advanced Institute of Spatial Econometrics at the University of Rome.
