Alberto Nones

Alberto Nones has served as Lecturer at the School of International Studies of the University of Trento, Visiting Professor at the United Arab Emirates University, Olin-Lehrman Postdoctoral Fellow at the James Madison Program of Princeton University, Fulbright Visiting Student/Researcher at Princeton University, Marie Curie Early Stage Researcher at the University of Cambridge, among others. He is currently based at the University of the Italian Switzerland.

He received his PhD in International Studies from the University of Trento. Nones previously studied at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), where he earned a Master of Science in Political Theory, and at the University of Bologna, where he graduated in Philosophy (110 cum laude). A trained classical musician, he also graduated in Piano from the Conservatory of Music of Trento (10 cum laude) and is active as a concert artist.

His publications include three monographs: Ascoltando Verdi: scrigni di musica, filosofia politica e vita, Milano, 2013; Ascoltando i Doors: l’America, l’infinito e le porte della percezione, Milano, 2014; Zandonai: un musicista nel vento del Novecento, Trento, 2014. Other papers include the essay on Machiavelli “Se li uomini fussino tutti buoni: contrattualismo e metamorfosi del bene in Machiavelli” (Pisa, 2012) and the translation from Italian into English for Princeton University Press of a book by Maurizio Viroli (As if God Existed: Religion and Liberty in the History of Italy, Princeton, 2012). His works as a pianist include an acclaimed recording with the Complete Mazurkas by Chopin.
