Proposal Writing for International Studies

Objective:
To help second-semester students elaborate their research proposals and prepare their presentations for the Graduate Student Conference. 

Description:
This workshop focuses on the organizational and linguistic aspects of writing a successful proposal, including identifying and elaborating researchable problems, conducting and composing critical literature reviews, and describing research designs and methods. Some specific issues that are examined are structuring and signposting texts, improving cohesion within and between sections, and adopting an appropriate authorial voice.

Prerequisite:
Successful completion of Academic Writing for International Studies and the Social Sciences. 

Assessment:
Based on active participation in the seminar and prompt completion of assignments.
