Alice Gadler

Alice Gadler received her PhD (with distinction) from the School of International Studies of the University of Trento in January 2014. Her dissertation focused on the international law and principles regulating the provision of humanitarian assistance to civilians in situations of armed conflict. As part of the research for her PhD, she was a visiting researcher at the Centre de Droit International of the Université Libre de Bruxelles and at the Lauterpacht Centre for International Law of the University of Cambridge.
She also worked with the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in Brussels, the Italian NGO CESVI in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Geneva. She has now been selected to work as a delegate for the ICRC.
Alice has a special interest in international humanitarian law, human rights, and international criminal justice. She has an MA in European and International Studies and a BA in European and Transnational Law, both from the University of Trento. She speaks Italian (mother tongue), English (excellent), French (very good), Spanish (very good), German (good), and Arabic (beginner).
