The School Committee
The School Committee usually is composed of most associate - and full - professors that teach in the various programmes of the School. In addition, the chairperson of the Committee may invite the student representatives to attend (a part) of some of its meetings. Its main responsibilities are to design and oversee the curriculum of the various PhD programmes the school offers and to oversee the progress of the doctoral students. For example, admission to the next year of studies, research periods abroad, appointment of tutors and supervisors, and admission to the final exam are all decided by the Committee. Students will usually hand in request to the Committee though their supervisor or the School secretariat. A detailed description of the composition and responsibilities of the Committee can be found in the University’s regulations for doctoral schools which can be downloaded from the “rules and regulations” section of this website.
