We list here the initiatives supported by the University of Trento. These are public campaigns, petitions and appeals aimed at raising public awareness on issues, values and principles of great importance for the people and for society.

The University of Trento supports the following awareness raising campaigns:

"Posto occupato" is a permanent campaign to raise awareness on violence against women. Before a husband, a former boyfriend, a lover or a stranger decided to put an end to their lives, those women would have taken seats in theatres, on buses, in schools, on the train, in society. Empty chairs with a sign that reads "This seat is taken", symbolically reserved for women who have been victims of violence, have been placed in University departments and centres to encourage reflection on the issue.

Many initiatives were organized and encouraged by the University on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, on 25 November.

From 18 March to 16 September 2018

For the third year, the University participates in "Trentino pedala", an initiative aimed at encouraging citizens to use bicycles as far as possible to reduce pollution, protect the environment and increase the quality of life.

From 20 to 26 November 2017

Empty chairs with a sign that reads "This seat is taken", symbolically reserved for women who have been victims of violence, have been placed in the Sala Stucchi in the Rectorate and in other University premises, to invite a reflection on the issue.

As part of the European Week of Sustainable Mobility (16-22 September), UniTrento and the City of Trento will be taking part in the event “Giretto d’Italia 2017” which has the goal of promoting the use of bikes in the city, especially for commuting to work or school.
