Objectives

The specialization course, aimed at graduates in psychology, psychotherapy, psychiatry and neuropsychiatry, offers an in-depth training in the neuropsychological and diagnostic evaluation of children and young patients.

The purpose of the course is to integrate theory with practice, combining the knowledge acquired in University with a practical, hands-on approach. Students will be introduced to the manuals and techniques that are currently widely used in Italy and at international level to elaborate complete functional profiles.

This will enable professionals to diagnose patients but also to design for them efficient therapeutic strategies, which are essential given their young age. Students will learn about the theory behind the tests, but they will also receive information on how to give the tests and how to interpret the results and data obtained.

Programme details

The master includes 70 hours of lectures, 78 hours of workshops, a 125-hour internship.

Lectures will be delivered by professors and researchers from the University of Trento and other universities and by highly regarded and qualified experts in the relevant areas.

Students who will have attended the course regularly and passed the final assessment tests will receive a specialization course diploma and will be granted 30 university credits.

Attendance

Classes and training will approximately start in June/July 2017 and will continue for 9 months.

Courses will take place on weekends, ideally once or twice a month (Friday afternoon, Saturday all day).

Students are required to attend classes, and specifically must attend at least 70% of classes and workshops and 100% of the internship.

Admission requirements

To participate in the selection procedure, students must hold one of the following university degrees:

  • Laurea magistrale under Italian Ministerial Decree 270/2004, Laurea specialistica under Italian Ministerial Decree 509/1999, Laurea ante riforma (Vecchio Ordinamento) in Psychology;
  • Laurea magistrale under Italian Ministerial Decree 270/2004, Laurea specialistica under Italian Ministerial Decree 509/1999, Laurea ante riforma (Vecchio Ordinamento) in Medicine and surgery with further specialization in neuropsychiatry;
  • Laurea magistrale under Italian Ministerial Decree 270/2004, Laurea specialistica under Italian Ministerial Decree 509/1999, Laurea ante riforma (Vecchio Ordinamento) in Medicine and surgery with further specialization in psychiatry;
  • Laurea magistrale under Italian Ministerial Decree 270/2004, Laurea specialistica under Italian Ministerial Decree 509/1999, Laurea ante riforma (Vecchio Ordinamento) in Medicine and surgery or in Psychology with further specialization in psychotherapy.
  • The selection is also open to students with a Laurea magistrale under Italian Ministerial Decree 270/2004, Laurea specialistica under Italian Ministerial Decree 509/1999, Laurea ante riforma (Vecchio Ordinamento) in Medicine and surgery or in Psychology, who are specializing in psychotherapy.

Students attending the course may not be simultaneously enrolled in another programme.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted online between 02 March 2017 and 26 May 2017, 12.00 (noon time).

Applicants must attach the following:

  • curriculum vitae (in Italian) including work and research experience and a list of publications;
  • valid identity document;
  • a self-declaration of qualifications.

A selection committee will assess the applications based on the candidates’ CV and their work and research experience in the same areas of the course.

To be admitted, applicant must score at least 50/100 points.

Fees and deadlines

  • submission of online application form by 12.00 (noon) of 26 May 2017;
  • publication of list of eligible candidates by 1 June 2017;
  • registrations: between 5 and 16 June 2017;
  • tuition fees: € 1,300 (to be paid in two installments: 800 EUR, before 21 June 2017, 500 EUR to be paid before 31 October 2017).

The first 50 students on the list of eligible candidates may submit their registration form.

Registration procedure

To register, download the registration form from the download box and fill it in, then send it to the University of Trento by 16 May 2017:

  • via e-mail at the following address uff.formazioneinsegnanti [at] unitn.it stating in the object line “Domanda iscrizione Corso di Perfezionamento”, attaching a copy of your passport or id;
  • via fax to 0461-287021, with a copy of your passport or id.

Registered students will receive a confirmation email from the Ufficio Formazione Insegnanti. Once received the confirmation email, students are required to log in to the area riservata of the Esse3 system www.esse3.unitn.it using their credentials, click the ‘segreteria mytasse’ button and download the mav form to pay the first installment of tuition fees.

The tuition fee of 800 EUR must be paid by 21 June 2017.

Continuing Medical Education Credits (Crediti ECM)
