Based on recent dispositions, we report the measures updated:

Classes
All classes are suspended until 13 April 2020. Classes will be available online.

Exams and Language certification exams
Only oral examinations will take place, online.

Graduations and doctoral thesis defences
Graduations and doctoral thesis defences will take place online in a way to ensure impartiality and equality. The results will be published, as required by law. The presence of at least one member of the graduation committee in the department is no longer required.

Internships
The internships that were cancelled in compliance with Rector's decree no. 204 of 10.3.2020 can resume if the interns can work from home during the emergency, and if the internship host and the university tutor so agree. New internship programmes that can be carried out in work-from-home mode during this emergency period can be authorised, only in Italy, and if the internship host and the university tutor so agree. Containment and emergency measures will in any case remain in force. Where students cannot continue or start an internship, the Director of the relevant department or centre can adopt measures to identify alternative activities with which students can achieve their learning outcomes and earn the relevant university credits. Students who, on 10 March, have completed at least 75% of their internship programme, in agreement with the company or institution providing the internship, will receive the credit points that are awarded in case of the full completion of the programme. For more information please read our FAQ in the download box.

International mobility programmes
Students who have been selected to participate in international mobility programmes are invited to read the provisions that concern them.

Laboratory and research work
All research and laboratory activities are suspended, except for those that cannot be suspended and for those that are working on ways to fight the epidemic. The directors of departments and centres, having heard the heads of the laboratories, can authorise activities that cannot be suspended. For these activities to continue, the containment and emergency measures must in any case remain in force.

Academic staff office hours
Academic staff will be available for students online.

Meetings of Department and Centre Councils
Department Councils and Centre Councils will meet online, as provided by article 3, paragraph 6, of the General University Regulation. All other collegial bodies can only meet remotely.

Tuition fees
The deadline to pay the third instalment of tuition fees for the academic year 2019/20, set on 31 March 2020, is extended to 15 June 2020.

Only students who are about to graduate and students who need to obtain a certificate to participate in international mobility programs will take these exams.

Graduations and doctoral thesis defences

The members of the thesis committee will meet online, while the chair of the committee will be physically present at the University.

Internships
All internships in Italy are cancelled. This measure is extended to all internships activated in countries where epidemiological emergency containment and management measures are and / or will be adopted. Students who have completed 75% of their internship programme, in agreement with the company or institution providing the internship, will receive the credit points that are awarded in case of the full completion of the programme.
All new internships are suspended until 3 April 2020. Departments and centres will identify other solutions, in compliance with the provisions in force, for cases in which postponing the internship may have an impact on achieving a degree or qualification.

Lab Work
The directors of the departments, based on the views of the heads of the laboratories, may decide to permit some lab work provided that laboratories are not overcrowded (at least 1 meter distance between people).

Based on the new Decree of the President of the Council of Ministers it was necessary to review some of the measures established in the previous communication of 5 March. Below is a list of the newly adopted provisions:

Update March 5

Based on the new provisions included in the new Decree of the President of the Council of Ministers, which ordered the suspension of all teaching activities until 15 March, our University adopted new measures to maintain a certain level of service and protect the health of us all. The adopted measures are as follows:

Classes
Classes will be suspended until 15 March.
Classes will be available online, gradually, starting from Monday, 9 March. Academic staff will be informed about how to provide this type of teaching activity. Students will be informed on when and how to access online courses through the Moodle platform.

Examinations
Only oral examinations will take place, online.

Language certification exams
Only students who are about to graduate and students who need to obtain a certificate to participate in international mobility programs will take these exams.

Graduations
Graduations will take place behind closed doors with the student graduating and no attendees until 31 March. We are currently at work to provide the live streaming of these examination.

Internships
Internships organized by third parties take place based on the opinion of the organizers.

As anticipated by the media, we inform you that from 5 March to 15 March inclusive all frontal teaching activities will be suspended, with the exception of the graduation sessions already scheduled, which will take place behind closed doors.
As soon as we can view the ministerial decree and any specific provincial ordinance, we will detail the measures to be taken to carry out all other ongoing activities.
We remind everyone to avoid any type of crowding inside and outside the university buildings.
Opera Universitaria wishes to inform everyone that the university restaurants and bars will remain closed until Sunday 8 March. Updates will follow for the week afterwards.

Update March 3

In compliance with the opinion of the Italian Data Protection Authority of 2 March, we would draw your attention to the provisions included in the Provincial order and in directive no. 1/2020 of the Minister for Public administration.

All University academic and non academic staff working at the University are required, in order to comply with the mentioned provisions and with the provisions of article 20 of legislative decree no. 81/08 ("Duties of the employees"), to report to the relevant health care service (please call 800 86 73 88 - toll free number) in case they, after 14 February 2020, even if they show no symptoms:

1) have visited one of these areas: Lombardia- Bertonico; Casalpusterlengo; Castelgerundo; Castiglione D'Adda, Codogno, Fombio, Maleo, San Fiorano, Somaglia, Terranova dei Passerini,  Veneto- Vo' Euganeo (specified in schedule 1 to the Decree of the President of the Council of Ministers of 1 March 2020 "List of the municipalities included in the containment strategy"),

or

2) have had contact with positive cases or with people from the areas referred to in point 1).

The report must be made by calling the toll-free number 800 86 73 88.

Update February 28

In compliance with the Provincial provisions and with the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health and by the Ministry of Universities and Research, we inform you that, starting from next Monday 2 March, all activities will resume as scheduled.

Lectures, exams, degree ceremonies will take place as scheduled. Libraries, study spaces and university sport facilities will reopen as well. All administrative activities will take place as planned.

We invite all those who are in one of these situations:

  • have flu-like symptoms like fever, cough, shortness of breath
  • have been in contact with someone who has been found positive of Covid-19
  • have stayed in the last 15 days (excluding transit) in one of the Italian cities subject to fiduciary isolation (DPCM February 23, 2020): Bertonico, Casalpusterlengo, Castelgerundo, Castiglione d'Adda, Codogno, Fombio, Maleo, San Fiorano, Somaglia , Terranova dei Passerini, Vo’ Euganeo
  • have travelled from China in the last 15 days 

to stay at home and please avoid attending lessons.
