University statistics

Statistics describing the main aspects of the University in a historical perspective can be found in “Ateneo in cifre” (in Italian) in the download area, with charts and tables on teaching, research, internationalization, human resources and facilities.

Further data describing, in particular, the academic facilities, the programmes of study, the composition of the academic community, can be found in UniTrento in numbers

Other statistical information on the university system can be found in institutional databases managed by the Italian Ministry of Education and Research with Cineca and, at the local level, by the Provincial statistical service:

Student opinions

To acquire the students' opinion on teaching, the University administers a survey to its students on a regular basis through the Esse3 student services portal [here is a sample].

The evaluation exercise is carried out in compliance with the requirements set by the Italian National Agency for the Evaluation of Universities and Research Institutes (ANVUR), and is part of the procedures included in the national framework for teaching quality assurance (under law 370/1999).

The questionnaire is administered to all students: those who attend classes and those who, by their statements, attend less than 50% of classes.

In general, students are asked to provide an opinion on the workload, the study materials, the organization of classes, their interest in the subject and their general degree of satisfaction.

The survey is a requirement for the university's accreditation but it is also a very important instrument to collect information that teaching staff and course programme directors need to monitor the quality of teaching and adopt any changes, where necessary, to resolve critical issues.

The results are displayed by academic year, grouped by Department/Centre and, in aggregated form, by programme of study.

Almalaurea survey

Almalaurea carries out surveys every year in 71 Italian universities, which help define the detailed profile of students who have earned a university degree.

The Graduates profile survey collects information on the graduates’ studies, their degree of satisfaction with the programme they have completed and their performance.

The Employment status survey explores the transition from university to the world of work and examines the employment status of graduates at one, three, and five years from graduation. The information focuses on a number of aspects of the work activity, in particular the sector in which graduates are employed, the salary range, the degree of satisfaction.

Some remarkable findings are displayed by year of publication of the report, grouped by Department/Centre and, in aggregated form, by programme of study.

Starting from the 20th edition, both surveys also include the comparison of data between course programmes in the same disciplinary area and among different universities in the north-east of Italy, and the comparison of study programmes belonging to the same disciplinary area among the various Italian universities.
