The Program

COST is an intergovernmental framework for European Cooperation in Science and Technology which finances networking programmes among researchers to promote and reinforce the potential of research and innovation at European level.

COST Actions

COST Actions: are bottom-up science and technology networks open to researchers and stakeholders from at least 7 COST member countries with a duration of 4 years, aiming at jointly developing their own ideas in any science and technology field at European level.
COST is open to all fields of science and technology focusing on excellence; it  does not fund research itself and encourages and fosters trans-, multi- and interdisciplinary approaches.

Objectives can be reached through a wide range of Networking Tools such as workshops, conferences, training schools, short-term scientific missions (STSMs) and dissemination activities.

Scientists and researchers can participate to COST by:

  • submitting a proposal for new COST Action under the COST open call;
  • applying to Participate in an ongoing COST Action through national coordinators.
