Curriculum 7 - Economics, law and space diplomacy

This curriculum is devoted to the study of the economic, legal and diplomatic characteristics of space activities in terms of actors, dynamics and practices, following a long-term interdisciplinary approach that takes into account the evolution and prospects of the field.

Cooperation and competition characterize the economics, law and diplomacy of space, while the interrelationship between experts and policy makers the decision-making process at the national and international level. According to these elements, the space economy is thus analyzed through the opportunities and risks associated with it, both in financial and technological terms, in the relationship between public and private, between techno-industrial applications and institutional and business research, between business choices business and scientific, technological and managerial innovation.

The approach to space activities is then affected by the diversity specific to each geopolitical area. Space law is presented through comparative analyses between different national laws and international law with particular attention to motivations, interpretations, applications, and contributions toward legislative gaps. Space, the "fourth dimension" of the human sphere has always mirrored the terrestrial geopolitics, but above all the terrain of diplomatic action. The geopolitical reflections of space pervade economics and law.

Space diplomacy is the practice of enabling the management of space activities between cooperation and competition at the global level by promoting the national interest national interest. It should not only be defined and presented in its evolution, but experienced. Common to the three fields of study - economics, jurisprudence, diplomacy - will in fact be the use of simulations of analysis, planning and bi- and multilateral negotiations through strong interaction among students and with the participation of diplomats, jurists, economists and "diplomatic scientists."
