Development of a Social Responsibility Report Model

This project aims to adopt a Social Responsibility Report Model in the Rest Home for Elderly people in Riva del Garda.

This Care Home has been working for years in the local territory on social assistance to people in need, to achieve a high standard in quality of life - respecting individual needs and attitudes, as well as the person’s privacy and dignity - collaborating with families, local services and voluntary actions.

The project is based on the Social Responsibility Report model, originally built by Silvia Gherardi (Trento University) with the collaboration of Stefano Zan (Bologna University), revisited and developed for the non profit sector during a recently concluded Equal project, participating in which there were many actors, such as the Department of Sociology and Social Research of Trento University.

The Social Responsibility Report distinguishes itself from other social reporting instruments, because of its process-based on management and strategy approach. More specifically, its process-based nature enables the organisation’s social strategy to rearrange itself, following end-term evaluations that may reveal gaps or convergences with previously declared objectives. In a SRR, in fact, policies and explicit and implicit objectives are preventively defined towards the organisation’s stakeholders, as well as the methods which they are going to be pursued by.

The project started on 2005 with the aim of experimenting the SRR in the Rest Home for Elderly people in Riva del Garda with a first pre-emptive 2006 redaction, to be managed during the same year, and a report at its end.

The goal is to activate a process of statement of organisation’s relationships with its stakeholders, and to widen its control and managing devices, remarking their democratic and participative dimension.
