The course is divided into two parts. The first part will provide an overview on the concept of sustainable development and the economic, sociological and environmental visions of sustainability, with an interdisciplinary approach. The second part will focus on specific environmental issues and on strategies for their solutions.

Part 1 – Culture of Sustainability (18 hours)

  • sustainability and sustainable development
  • the Agenda 2030 and the sustainable development goals (SDGs)
  • social and jurisdictional fundamentals of sustainability
  • circular economy and implications for sustainable development
  • environmental sustainability indicators and monitoring tools
  • networks of universities for sustainable development

Part 2 – Sustainable solutions to environmental issues (18 hours)

  • waste management
  • water management
  • energy production and consumption
  • mobility
  • emissions of air pollutants and greenhouse gases
  • health and well-being
  • tools for the evaluation of environmental sustainability indicators
  • mitigations in civil and industrial contexts
  • Meet the expert

Duration: 36 hour (4,5 credits)
