Internationalisation

The Doctoral Programme in Sociology and Social Research offers students a stimulating research environment and important opportunities.

The SRS faculty has developed an extensive network of international relationships and participates actively in various relevant national and international research activities/projects (funded by the European Union, Italian  PRIN projects, and more), which can help students to organise visiting periods in foreign institutions or thesis co-supervisions.
Furthermore, the PhD Programme in Sociology and Social Research has a partnerships with several foreign universities and research institutions, and members of the foreign partners sit on the examination commission that awards the doctoral degree.

The PhD programme also offers a limited number of positions for joint or double degree programmes. The co-tutelle programmes are based on agreements between the participating institutions and are carried out through the cooperative supervision of two professors from the partner universities.
The School of Social Sciences currently offers “cotutelle-de-these” agreements with the following university partners:

  • Université Paris-Sorbonne, France;
  • Tilburg University, The Netherlands;
  • University of St. Andrews, UK;
  • University of Jena, Germany;

as well as potential other partners.

The PhD programme in SRS offers an intensive course programme enriched by seminars and conferences including distinguished scholars from an international context, as you can check here

Qualified students are strongly encouraged to spend a longer period abroad and may complete their formation taking specific courses at other foreign institutions, including important summer schools.
