Academic Year 2024-2025
The Master in Social Foresight is a second-level master's course organized by the Department of Sociology and Social Research under the patronage of UNESCO, and it is the first course on future studies in Italy.
The course is mostly aimed at people who are already working in public or private organizations in management or leadership positions who would like to learn new decision-making tools. People with a future-oriented vision and with the ability to achieve its potential are more and more in demand in the business sector for strategic planning, and the course provides opportunities for professional development in this sense.
The Master’s course is taught in Italian.
Course Objectives
The participants will acquire the skills to:
- understand the complexity and uncertainties of present time;
- design possible strategies to tackle future challenges;
- develop and implement anticipatory, flexible, solid strategies.
The course will provide theoretical knowledge in a variety of subjects and include a combination of academic and non-academic skills. Theory will be taught side by side with practical examples, workshops and group work to make knowledge acquired more readily usable. The participants will learn to face the complexities and dynamics of contemporary society, markets and industries, thanks to the formal and informal knowledge that they will acquire.
The final examination consists in an individual work that the participants have to write under the supervision of a faculty member or expert in the field and present to a committee appointed by the Master’s scientific committee.
The participants who have attended the program regularly and have passed the periodic assessments and the final examination will receive, in June 2025, a Second level Master’s Degree in Social Foresight.
Attendance
Between September 2024 and January 2025 there will be ten series of three meetings, organized to meet the needs of working participants:
- Thursday afternoon 14.00 - 18.00
- Friday (all day) 9.00 - 13.00 e 14.00 - 18.00
- Saturday morning 9.00 - 13.00, for 200 hours of in presence and online work
The participants must attend at least 70% of the course work, including all activities. The didactic activities will be organized in front lessons in Trento.
Eligibility and Admission Requirements
Applicants must hold one of the following qualifications:
- a degree awarded under Ministerial Decree no. 270/04 or Ministerial Decree 509/99;
- a degree awarded under regulations in force before Ministerial Decree no. 509/99;
- a foreign degree (equivalent to the above).
Enrollment in the Master's program is compatible with the enrollment in another course of study, if the two courses meet the compatibility requirements established by the MUR (M.D. 930/2022 Articles 2 and 3). Selection criteria
Applications must be submitted exclusively through online application that will be available from April 2nd by June 28th, 12:00 o’clock.
The master’s scientific committee will select candidates based on their CV and their motivation letter, which must include any publications. The committee shall award points as follows:
- Curriculum Vitae: max. 20 points
- Motivation letter: max. 20 points
- Publications (if any): max. 10 points
The first 25 applicants on the list of eligible candidates are admitted to the Master’s course and will be invited to confirm their registration by paying the relevant fee. A minimum of 10 participants is required for the course to start.
Tuition fees
Tuition fees amount to 3.016,00 euro to be paid in two instalments: the first one at the time of registration (2.016,00 euro), the second one (1.000 euro) by 31st January 2025.
Deadline overview
- Deadline for online application: between April 2nd and by June 28th, 2024;
- Publication of the list of admitted candidates: by July 19th, 2024;
- Registration and payment of tuition fees: by July 26th, 2024;
- Course start: September 2024;
- Submission of individual work: By May 24th, 2025;
- Conclusion: by June 25th, 2025.
