Organizational Models and Support for the Social Economy

The aim of the project was to introduce a social accounting instrument (the social responsibility balance sheet) in a pilot group of voluntary associations operating in the province of Trento. The project divided into three main phases:

  • research: analysis of the Trentino third sector and examination of the social accounting methods already used in the province, as well as the design of the research methodology to be used during the rest of the project (the social responsibility balance sheet);
  • training: the associations to be involved in the project were identified and invited to follow a training course on social responsibility and the social balance sheet. Training was also given to the consultants/trainers who subsequently accompanied the associations through the experiment;
  • trial workshops: for a year, the associations in the pilot group trialled the methodology of the social responsibility balance sheet; 11 out of 13 of them produced a SRBS (albeit with the inevitable differences).
