The PhD Program Committee

The PhD Program Committee is the governing body of the PhD Programme in International Studies at the University of Trento. The committee is chaired by the coordinator and comprises members who are experts in various fields of international studies. Below is the list of current members along with their research areas and contact information.

Representatives of the PhD Students

Current Representatives The current PhD Representatives are Daniele Stracquadanio and Francesca Zambelli. They play a crucial role in voicing the interests and concerns of the PhD student body within the university's governance structures.

Election Process Elections for PhD Representatives are conducted online every December, ensuring confidentiality and transparency in the voting process. This democratic approach allows PhD students to choose peers who will actively voice their concerns and suggestions across various university platforms.

Roles and Responsibilities PhD Representatives are crucial in bridging the gap between the student body and the university administration. Their responsibilities include:

  • Programme Committee Meetings: Representatives attend these meetings to discuss issues directly impacting the overall progress of the PhD programme and related courses. They actively gather input from all PhD students before the meetings to ensure that the student body's views are accurately represented.

  • School's Council Meetings: These meetings are held monthly for representatives to discuss teaching methodologies and student services, ensuring that the educational and administrative services meet the student's needs.

  • University Committee of PhD Students and Research Fellows: Representatives also participate in this university-wide committee, which addresses broader issues affecting PhD students and research fellows across different disciplines. More information about the committee's activities can be found here.

Initiatives and Involvement Beyond attending formal meetings, PhD Representatives are encouraged to take proactive steps in enhancing the academic and social environment for PhD students. This includes conducting surveys to collect feedback, organising forums for discussion, and bringing forward innovative ideas and suggestions to improve the programme.

Through their active participation and initiative, PhD Representatives help ensure that the PhD programmes continue to meet and adapt to the evolving needs of the student community.
